Dr. O'Toole did a complete physical exam, suggested he have an echocardiogram to be sure his heart was healthy prior to starting any walking in the treadmill in the water. Since Boxers can be prone to congestive heart failure, she was able to eliminate any potential for this at the time.

Thank you, Mary Kay Wilson

Dr. V., Dr. O'Toole, Amber, Marissa, Paige, along with Jessica, and the entire staff at Vanguard are exceptional; their level of genuine care, gentleness, desire to communicate everything they observe with Jake and any new options continually put my mind at ease with every visit. He's been switched to natural supplements, adding in NSAIDS that are not harsh on his stomach, showing me how to stretch his legs to help keep him limber in between sessions and other proactive actions to help him enjoy the best possible quality of life in his senior years! He's recently had an injection of cortisone in his left knee, that at his age Dr. V. felt was appropriate and the results were immediate and though not a long term solution, it has given an 11 1/2 year old precious dog even more relief!

I first took my 11 1/2 year old Boxer, Jake, to Vanguard Veterinary Hospital in mid-March, 2017. He'd been experiencing severe pain and discomfort after having had surgery for a blockage in his colon at my previous vet clinic. For whatever reason Jake's pain, which was visible to me in his back/spine and hips/knees, never subsided. I could not watch my dog suffer as he was so severely suffering with acute pain. I've never felt so helpless and distraught as I watched Jake in such severe pain. It was time for a change and I'd recently heard about Vanguard, so I immediately got an appointment and took him to see Dr. Vamvakias for an assessment. As I watched (and listened) to Dr. V gently examine Jake, face to face with him on the floor, while gaining his trust, I knew in my heart we were in the right place. She immediately addressed the acute pain in his back. She suggested injections to quickly relieve that immediate acute pain, then gave him laser treatments and acupuncture. After that first visit, the change was remarkable and his condition has improved greatly over the last 3 1/2 months.

Amazing facility. Only rehab in area, and they do a fantastic job! Highly recommend for rehab and general veterinary medicine!

You will not regret taking your beloved dog or cat to Vanguard for veterinary care!

We've been going twice a week for various state-of-the-art rehab therapy since mid-March and the change in Jake is nothing short of remarkable! I thought the end was near and I'd have to let him go back in March as I would not have been able to see him suffer as he was. Now, he's maintaining a pain-free lifestyle, able to go on walks, get up on the sofa, play/run a little bit and his complete joy is evident in his whole demeanor!

Last summer our dog Max developed a really bad limp in his front shoulder. After several visits to our vet at the time, and a trip to see an orthopedic specialist, we still didn’t have any answers and we weren’t sure what to do next. A coworker recommended that I contact Dr. Vamvakias at Vanguard Veterinary Hospital and we were so grateful to find this incredible facility. Dr. V started Max on medication along with acupuncture and chiropractic therapy. We have seen such a remarkable improvement. Max turned 14 in February and now he’s back to enjoying 1-2 mile walks. We cannot thank Dr. V and the staff at Vanguard enough for the amazing care they provide!

Both Dr. V. and Dr. O'Toole have sent me detailed reports in writing of their findings and results of tests given Jake. The follow up, attention to detail and the truly genuine concern for Jake's wellbeing is nothing short of excellent.

Fantastic veterinarian! The staff is knowledgeable, attentive and friendly.

I have only one regret and that is I wish I'd brought Jake to Vanguard two or three years ago when he first started showing signs of lameness from arthritis. I feel we'd have had a better chance to possibly get ahead of it and give him more ease and comfort at a much younger age.
